Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Bantam win Alliance Playoff’s

The Lambton Jr. Sting AAA Minor Bantams captured the Alliance Playoff Championship with a close 2 – 1 victory and a 3 -2 series victory versus the Cambridge Hawks.

The Lambton Jr. Sting AAA Minor Bantams captured the Alliance Playoff Championship with a close 2 – 1 victory and a 3 -2 series victory versus the Cambridge Hawks.

 

The Sting were defeated by the London Jr. Knights in the opening round of a hard fought series.  The team was regulated to the Playoff side, and went on to defeat Chatham and Windsor 4 games to 0 in round robin play.  The Sting then advanced to the Alliance Playoff Championship versus Cambridge.

 

Game 1 saw the Sting skate to a 4 – 3 victory.  Corey Pawley led the way with 2 goals and an assist.  Brayden Hopkins picked up a single marker and an assist.  Adam Lane chipped in with the other goal.  Assists went Mitch DeRush-Pageau, Luke Charlton and Connor McKinnon.  Joel Sowinksi picked up the win in goal.

 

The Sting jumped out to a 2 – 0 series lead with a 4 – 2 victory in game 2.  Nicolas Sproviero led the attack with 2 goals and an assist.  Ben Morrison had 1 goal and 1 assist.  Mathew Brandon picked up the other goal.  Assists went to Pawley with two, Hopkins, and Ryan Trottier.  Oliver Stephens led the team to victory between the pipes.

 

The injury bug caught up to the Sting in Games 3 and 4.  The Sting were defeated in Game 3 by a score of 2 -1.  Adam Lane picked up the lone marker.  Game 4 saw the boys lose 6 – 3.  Pawley had 2 goals with Brandon picking up the other.  Assists went to Trottier and DeRush-Pageau.

 

The deciding Game 5 match-up saw the Sting missing 6 regulars from their lineup.  However they team stepped up and came out with a strong effort and a 2 – 1 victory.  Charlton and Pawley each scored, with DeRush-Pageau picking up 2 assists and McKinnon adding a single assist.  Sowinski was strong between the pipes.

 

The AAA Sting Minor Bantams finished a successful season with a record of 32 wins 21 loses and 10 ties.  In the process they captured the Golden Blade tournament and the Alliance Playoff Champions.
