Minor Pee Wee’s Heating Up at Right Time
The Lambton Jr. Sting AAA Minor Pee Wee’s are starting to get hot, winning 3 out of their last 4 games.  Despite starting the season 0-6-1, the boys have rebounded by gaining a tie or win in 15 of their last 31 games.  With their recent win over Windsor, the team has exceeded its previous seasons overall points in league play with 6 games to go.

The boys just missed out on a playoff berth at the world-famous Bell Capital Cup in Ottawa, over the Christmas break.  The team started the tournament with 2 close losses and then won their next 2. After the tournament, the boys had to play London and kept in close with a 4 – 1 loss and rebounded with a 5 – 1 victory over Windsor.

Game 1 of the Bell Capital Cup saw the team take on the reigning Alliance Champions, Kitchener Rangers.  The team kept it close, but lost 4-0 including an empty net goal.  Caden Smit was strong in net, despite the loss.  Ryan Pageau picked up hardest worker while Ryan Vidler picked up Player of the game honors.

Game 2 had the Sting loss a nail biter 2-1 to the Connecticut Oilers.  Despite several scoring opportunities the Sting could not hang on to their early 1 goal lead.  Scoring for the Sting was Aaron Highfield with assists to Adam Maitland and Evan Morningstar.  Highfield picked Player of the game while Isaac Oliphant picked up hardest worker honors.  Joseph Malinowski was strong between the pipes.

Game 3 saw the Sting gut skate to a 3-2 win over the Rochester Americans.  Scoring for the Sting were Morningstar, Oliphant and Jace McGrail.  Assists went to Pageau, Harrison Rops, Adam Osler and Aaron Shanks.  McGrail picked up the Player of Game award while Ben Sottosanti picked up hardest worker.  Smit picked up the win in net.

Game 4 had the boys defeat the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings 4 – 2.  Scoring for Lambton were Osler, Luke Doan, Oliphant and Shanks.  Picking up assists were Oliphant, Trevor Anderson, Jaxon Priddle, Doan, McGrail and Pageau.  Malinowski got the win in net.  Player of the game award went to Luke Doan while hardest worker went to Adam Maitland.

Back to league play in London, saw the Sting stay close to the Knights with a 4-1 loss.  Jace McGrail scored with assists from Aaron Shanks and Ryan Pageau.  Caiden Smit was brilliant in net despite the loss.

The Minor Peewee’s rebounded with a 5-1 blasting of the Windsor Jr. Spitfires.  Scoring two goals apiece were Jaxon Priddle and Harrison Rops.  Aaron Highfield picked up a single marker.  Assists went to Adam Osler, Ryan Vidler and Jaxon Priddle.  Joseph Malinowski picked up the win.

The Minor Peewee’s have 6 regular season games and the Nations Cup tournament in Ann Arbor before Playoffs begin.  The Sting are hoping to continue their improved play and peak for playoffs.
