Minor Pee-Wee’s help Capture Nations Cup for Canada
The Lambton Jr. Sting AAA Minor Pee-Wee hockey travelled to Ann Arbor to participate in the Nations Cup Hockey Tournament pitting Canada vs USA Minor Pee Wee AAA teams.  The Sting were on the winning side bringing home nine (9) of a possible twelve (12) points for Canada, including a 4-point Final game versus the Pittsburgh Elite AAA hockey team.

The Sting finished with 3 wins 1 loss and 1 tie in Ann Arbor.  Game 1 had Lambton up against the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals.  Despite a sub-par effort, the boys held on to a 2-2 tie.  Scoring for the Sting were Adam Osler and Harrison Rops.  Assists went to Jaxon Priddle and Aaron Highfield.  Caiden Smit was solid in net.

Game 2 versus Sylvania North Stars was a back and forth scoring match, resulting in a 6-5 win for the Sting.  Despite some poor defensive play, the boys were able to outscore their opponents.  Scoring for the Sting were; Aaron Shanks with two, Isaac Oliphant, Luke Doan and Ryan Vidler.  Jace McGrail, Ryan Pageau and Jaxon Priddle each chipped in with two assists.  Other assists went to Trevor Anderson and Aaron Highfield.  Joe Malinowski picked up the win.

The Sting suffered their only loss of the tournament in Game 3, losing 4-3 to Fox Motors.  Scoring for the Sting were Harrison Rops with two and Evan Morningstar.  Picking up assists were Rops, Morningstar, Jace McGrail and Ryan Pageau.

Lambton picked their effort up in Game 4 and dominated the Ohio Blue Jacket AAA team with a 4-0 win.  Joseph Malinowki earned the shutout for Lambton. Scoring for Lambton were Tanner Winegard, Ryan Vidler, Harrison Rops and Adam Maitland.  Picking up assists were Rops, Maitland and Evan Morningstar.

After round robin play Team USA and Team Canada were tied with 20 points.  It would come down to the final day.  Lambton started their game against Pittsburg know Team Canada were trailing 6 points to 0.  Both Lambton and Sun County would have to win for Team Canada to capture the Cup.  So, the Sting went to business and took care of their end of things with a 5-0 shutout win over Pittsburg, garnering 4 points for Canada.  With the Sting rooting Sun County, on in the last game, the Panthers were able to hold up there end of the bargain and captured another 5 points for Canada and helping team Canada defeat Team USA 29 Points to 26.

Scoring for the Sting versus Pittsburg were Jace McGrail with two, Isaac Oliphant, Aaron Shanks and Jaxon Priddle.  Assists went to Tanner Winegard with three, Aaron Shanks and Ryan Pageau each picked up two helpers, while Adam Maitland and Ryan Vidler picked up single assists.  Caiden Smit picked up the Shutout extending the Stings shutout streak to two games.

The Sting are currently 6-3-1 over there last 10 games and are looking forward to their continued strong play as they wrap regular season play with 5 games left.  Lambtons next game is versus London on Saturday Jan. 28th at PASA, 3:00PM.
