Name: Matteo Ciccarelli
Current/Last Team played for: Sarnia Sting OHL (2012-2014)
Years played in Lambton (2004-2007, 2011-2012)

1. What is your favourite minor hockey memory?    My favourite minor hockey memory has to be playing in my first year of Minor Atom (2004-2005) with players a year older than me and winning the entire alliance championship. I think we were the first  Lambton team to do it at the time.

2. Greatest accomplishment in Jr Hockey?     My greatest accomplishment in Jr hockey was to help make an impact in the local communities that I had played for. While playing in Sarnia, I participated in Habitat for Humanity, attended various elementary schools to read books and play hockey with children and started an initiative with Josh Chapman to raise money for Breast Cancer Foundation. As a child, looking up to Sarnia Sting players as role models made it very humbling knowing I could hopefully help make a make a difference in my own community.

3. When you played for Lambton, who was your favourite Sting player?    My favourite Sarnia Sting player is undoubtedly Steven Stamkos but when I was younger I can remember playing road hockey with my neighbours calling play by play like Murray Vosburg pretending that I was Joey Tenute.

4. What one thing did you learn in Minor hockey that helped you get to the next level?

I think the one thing that I learned in Minor hockey that helped me get to the next level was to not be concerned with what others thought or rumoured about you. With social media becoming evidently larger every day, it’s easy to become invested into what others say whether it's positive or negative. As you become older, people start to become more critical, but you have to remember that you can only control yourself and at the end of the day it is all about having fun.

5. What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

I am currently going into my final year at Wilfrid Laurier University to complete my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In the next 10 years, I see myself completing a Master’s degree, hopefully adventuring to all parts of the globe to see what the world has to offer and playing pick-up hockey with my friends.

Our ongoing goal is to help people in need in our community and make the Sarnia Lambton area a better place to live for all. The fund collects donations through community outreach events such as golf tournaments, 50/50 draws, jersey raffles and various online auctions.
