What made you want to be a Hockey coach?
I wanted to be a hockey Coach, because hockey has given so
much over the years and I want to give back to the game I love. I like working
with young people and helping them through their youth by
teaching them valuable life lessons, such as teamwork, problem solving,
strategic thinking and most importantly the value of hard work.
In return they have a positive impact on me by teaching me how to develop communication and interpersonal skills. Coaching to me is a WIN, WIN for everyone involved. And that's why I coach hockey.
What is your pregame ritual?
My pregame ritual is a great one...... I kiss my wife and tell her, that... I love her.
What is your greatest coaching memory?
I've been coaching for a lot of years so it's hard to just pick one great coaching memory. So Here's 3 that come to mind :
1997-98 after only winning a hand full of games all season then going 11-1 in OMHA play downs winning the all Ontario's with a Minor Midget team from East Sarnia.
In 1998-99 coaching the only Sarnia Juvenile team to ever win the North American Silver Stick Finals in the 26 year history of the Tournament.
In 2013-14 after a rocky 2-10-1 start coaching a Midget AE team in Mooretown, the team bought into the system and went on a tear going 27 games without a loss winning 2 Tournaments including a Regional Silver Stick with a record of 24-0-3, before finally losing in the semi finals 2-1 in the International Silver stick Finals.
