ALLIANCE Hockey has implemented a pause on external competition through to December 26, 2021.
Partial intention of implementing the pause was to provide families with the opportunity to enjoy Christmas without the direct threat of spreading the virus due to contact from hockey. Additionally, many players/teams were in isolation due to positive cases/contacts.
ALLIANCE Hockey has unfortunately had to cancel the AAA All-Star games originally scheduled to be played on January 8, 2022, based on numerous factors but including the implications that hosting the event would have had on all our League teams at the U15, U16 and U18 levels. Furthermore, there are current pauses in play implemented by other Member Partners (i.e., GTHL), various Minor Hockey Associations and numerous December tournaments have been cancelled.
Given this information, along with the continued consultation with field experts and Public Health, ALLIANCE Hockey will be extending the pause in external competition through January 1, 2022. External play applies to all ALLIANCE Hockey scheduled Rep and MD League games. This includes all AAA, AA, MD league or exhibition games and all Select exhibition games.
Teams are permitted to utilize scheduled ice times for internal practices. ALLIANCE Hockey’s priority is to have kids on the ice to complete the season. If Public Health and the Ministry allow for game play, we will be prepared to resume participation in external games on January 2, 2022.
