Let's get to know our U10 (Chris Dickson) and U14 (Tom Babcock) coaches a little better...

He is an HP 1 Certified Coach and has been coaching for 28 years!

He played AA Minor Hockey in Sarnia Township and Jr C for Clearwater Steeplejacks.

He has coached many age groups at different levels, starting 28 years ago with the AA Sarnia Jr. Sting Juvenile team, to 4 year old instructional players! In 2018 his U14 2005 team played all the way to game 7 of the Alliance championship finals knocking out #1 SCP from the west side, #1 Waterloo Wolves from the east side and winning 8 possible elimination games on his way to game 7 of the finals!

In 2017 Tom brought forward an idea to bring Mental Health awareness to youth in hockey to St Clair child and youth and assisted in the development of the Faceoff for Mental Health Program.

He was awarded Alliance Hockey Coach of the year in 2018.

He was the St Clair Child and Youth Mental Advocate of the year in 2018.
Tom was awarded Lambton Association Coach of the year in 2018.

Since 2014 Tom has served on the Sarnia Hockey Association Board of Directors as the Rep Hockey Equipment Director and has mentored many AA and MD Coach’s throughout their seasons.

He is a die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf fan.

Tom is married, with 4 adult children (daughter Jamie 31, Son Drake 27, Daughter Randi 24, Son Kaden 20 currently plays for the Mooretown Flags Jr C team), and 4 grand children (Ryder 6, Aspen 3, Sawyer almost 2 and Jasper 1).

Chris has a Masters Degree in Kinesiology from Western University. Specializations in Coaching, Sports Psychology and Motivational Speaking.

He played AAA minor hockey before heading to Florida and Texas on golf scholarships. After completing his undergrad, went on to play 8 years as a touring professional on various tours including the PGA Tour collecting a total of 8 professional victories and being ranked in the World Professional Golf Rankings.

Chris has coached all levels; from the professional level, the national level (Team Canada), the provincial level and the university level. He now works at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club as the Director of Instruction.

His coaching awards include National Coach of the Year, OUA Coach of the Year (two-time award winner).

Chris' favourite hockey team is the 2022/2023 U10 Lambton Jr. AAA Sting. With the amount of talent this age group has in Lambton County these great hockey players will be turning heads everywhere they play!

Sting Assists
