Sting Split a Home and Away Series with the Chiefs
The Minor Atoms last 2 games were a home and away series with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs.  The boys were edged 4-3 in a heartbreaker in the home game but 1 week later avenged the loss with a convincing 4-1 victory.

Game 1

The Sting started the game strong establishing a good forecheck and playing well in their own zone.  The Chiefs opened the scoring late in the 1st period, but this did not discourage the boys.  In the 2nd period the Sting out skated and played the Chiefs and were awarded with 3 goals to go up 3-1.  Our defense played a strong period, frustrating the Chiefs forwards, particularly Ben Arthurs, who played a solid game making many great defensive plays. In the 3rd period the Chiefs scored 2 powerplay goals, one of which was with only 1:14 left in the game, to tie the game.  This late goal seemed to rattle the team and the unthinkable happened....the Chiefs got a 2 on 1 with only 18 seconds left and scored to pull off the win.  What a heartbreaker!  The boys played a great game for 30 minutes, just had to carry it on for 10 minutes more.
Scoring for the Sting were: Lucas Ross, Dante Fuoco and Cameron Rombouts with goals and Duncan Core, Nolan Farr, D. Fuoco and C. Rombouts with the assists.

Game 2

The second game was played in the Glencoe arena, one week after the first.  This was another excellent game by the Sting, however, this time they played a full 40 minutes and did not allow the same result as the last meeting. Like the previous game the boys carried a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period but unlike last game they did not take their foot off the accelerator.  They added 1 more goal for good measure.  Although I was not there to see it personally, many who did said it was the best game they have seen the Sting play all season.  Great job boys beating one of the top teams in the league.
Scoring for the Sting were: Cameron Adam, Dante Fuoco, Lucas Ross and Nolan Farr with the goals.  Josh Vale, Theo Crombeen, N. Farr, Carson Payne, Curtis Marks, D. Fuoco and Cameron Rombouts with the assists.
