Alliance Playoffs - Finals - Game #5 @ Kitchener Jr. Rangers
Lambton’s Major Atom Jr. Sting traveled to Kitchener for a noontime match-up down 5 points to 3 points in the 6-point series and needing nothing short of a win to extend the series to game 6. It was do or die for the boys.

Lambton again came out of the blocks strong generating numerous scoring chances early on and Ryan Gould got the visitors on the board mid-way through the 1first with Jameson Hart and Nick DiScanno getting assists. The Jr. Sting continued to pressure the Kitchener home squad while not giving up any shots on Ethan Hunt. Period one ended with Lambton up one goal.

The Jr. Sting extended the lead to 2 goals when Max Steeves banged home a rebound from close in. Jacob Williams and Ryan Brown picked up the helpers on a well executed Power Play. The Jr. Sting continued to control the play until a penalty gave the Jr. Rangers the opportunity they were looking for. Kitcheners big captain scored to make it 2-1 and it was game on. Lambton picked up another minor and again Kitchener scored to make it 2-2 and put the Jr. Sting on their heels. Lambton recovered to play pretty even the rest of the period and the second ended 2-2.

Kitchener was putting on the pressure and the Jr. Sting were looking for a spark to get them back in control. Ethan Hunt robbed a Jr. Ranger mid-way through the third to keep it locked at 2 and Lambton had a couple of close chances courtesy of Noah Myers and Daniel Wellington hooking up on a nice passing play and Max Steeves almost finding Brennan McKegan open in front late in the period. Regulation time ended with the score knotted at 2 and the Jr. Sting knowing they needed to win to force another game. Lambton put on the pressure and were defending the rush when they were penalized for a hook away from the play and were forced to kill an OT penalty. The boys dug down and killed it off and looked to get the winner but to no avail – Kitchener held on to the 2-2 tie and the series win.

The Jr. Sting season ended with a hard fought tie and the boys had to shake hands and tip their hat to the Jr. Rangers. Kitchener has a big, strong team and now goes on to appear in the OHF’s as the host center in two weeks. Congratulations to Kitchener for the series win.

This brings an end to the season for the Major Atom’s after a 67 game schedule. All the boys have done themselves and their families proud. The coaching staff really enjoyed the season; with many highs including a playoff series win against Elgin Middlesex.

It was a great season for the Lambton Jr. Sting Major Atoms.
