Major Atoms Get Back on Track With 2 Shutouts
The Major Atom team recently played 2 home games, managing consecutive shutouts by outscoring their opposition 12-0.  These wins against Hamilton and Chatham-Kent put the team back at .500 for the season.

On Sunday, the Sting hosted Hamilton and were looking to avenge their 2-1 loss last meeting.  They accomplished this quite convincingly winning 5-0.

Right from the initial puck drop the Sting commanded the play, winning the races to all the loose pucks.  All three lines looked solid and poised to scored.  About a minute in the Sting struck first blood, as Kyle Blunt scored with a nice shot assisted by Cameron Rombouts and Joey Ferrera on the PP.  Minutes later it was Josh Vale who found the back of the cage, from Cameron Adam and K. Blunt.  Hungry for their opportunity, it was Dante Fuoco who finished off a great play from Theo Crombeen and Alec Trusler.  Finally, to round out the scoring with only 6 seconds J. Vale scored his second of the game from K. Blunt.

The second period was played a bit more defensively.  Our defensive pairings did a great job of containing the Hamilton offensive, and did so without taking any penalties.  When they did get shots on net, Jakob Knowles was solid in net, showing his strong glove hand.

The Sting would add 1 more goal for good measure on the powerplay as C. Rombouts scored from in front of the net from J. Vale and C. Adam.

A great effort boys.

The second game was on Tuesday night against the Chatham/Kent Cyclones.  This was another good game which was dominated from start to finish by the Sting, winning 7-0.  Josh Bayne continued the shutout streak playing well in net, while our defense (J. Correia, A. Trusler, D. Core, L. Knowles, G. Langford and B. Arthurs) all showed great mobility and the knack for making a good first pass.

Leading the charge was Carson Payne who played perhaps his best game to date, scoring 2 and assisting on 2 others.  Other scorers were:
K. Blunt 2G   C. Adam 1A
J. Vale   1G   J. Ferrera 1A
T. Crombeen 1G C. Rombouts 1A
N. Farr   1G

This was another strong game for the Sting, one that saw a lot of hustle, good puck movement and most of all no penalties by our team.  That is something to be proud of! 1 minor penalty combined, in both games! I hope everyone will take a lessen from this.
