Major Atom's Pick Up 3 Points on the Weekend
After a disappointing week last week the Major Atom's play 2 solid games this weekend and earn a tie against Windsor and a big away win against Sun County.

On Saturday the Sting played host to the Windsor Spitfires, in what turned out to be a very entertaining 3-3 game.  It was a fast paced game, which was for the most part controlled by the Sting.  Both teams exchanged a few scoring chances, but for the most part the teams defense thwarted the offensive attempts.
The scoreless 1st period was quickly erased 15 seconds into the 2nd period as Cameron Adam circled around the net passing to an open Nolan Farr who swatted in a backhander. The Sting continued the pressure but couldn't find the net hitting the post twice.  Windsor tied the game with 30 seconds left in the period, as there was a wild scramble in front of the net which ended up in the cage.

The teams would exchanged 2 more goals each in the 3rd period, with the line of Vale, Farr and Crombeen all figuring in both goals.  Jakob Knowles was solid again in net giving the team ahead of him the confidence to play well.

Great effort by the entire team and a well earned tie.  Keeping those feet moving and staying out of the penalty box reaps its rewards.

On Sunday, the boys travelled to Essex Arena to take on the Sun County Panthers.  Continuing their great work ethic and ability to stay out of the penalty box allowed them to dictate the pace of the game and beat a good team quite handily 6-1.
Our defense did a great job clearing out any lose pucks in front of the goalie, held the blue line the best they have all season and did well with there first pass in the breakout.  Josh Bayne played very well in net making some key saves to keep the momentum going the Sting way.
Offensively, the team was all over the Panthers winning the races to all the loose pucks and showing a hunger for the puck that could make us compete with any team.  Scoring came from all 3 lines and even one from the back end as Duncan Core scored his first of the season from the blue line.  Other scorers were Theo Crombeen with 2 goals, Josh Vale, Kyle Blunt and Cameron Rombouts. Assists going to Nolan Farr (2), Dante Fuoco (2), Carson Payne (2) and singles to Cameron Adam, Joey Ferrara.

Overall this was the teams best effort thus far and with commitment to hard work and hunger for the puck, they should be able to compete with anyone in the league.
