The Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Midget AAA team put the finishing touches on a very successful regular season, going undefeated in their last four Alliance regular season contests following an impressive showing at the Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic tournament at the end of December. The team finished the regular season with an impressive league record of 21 wins, 7 losses, and 2 ties, capturing second place in the Alliance Western Conference, and third place overall in both the Eastern and Western Conferences.
In combined tournament and regular season play, the team posted an overall record of 30-17-5, with victories over such highly ranked teams as the Don Mills Flyers, Elgin Middlesex Chiefs, Markham Majors, Oakville Rangers, and last season's '95 Alliance Champions, the Sun County Panthers. The '95's second place division finish secures them a first round playoff bye through to the division quarter finals vs. the third seed in the Eastern Conference in what promises to be a very exciting quarter final series!
As we prepare for our journey through the Alliance playdowns we must remain focused as a unified group on the tasks at hand. We must continue to use our practice time wisely as we continue developing our work ethic and good habits in preparation for our next opponent. We must look ahead to the challenges that await us while continuing to concentrate on improving each and every time we hit the ice.
Be ready, be focused, be excited! One shift at a time, one period at a time, one game at a time, one opponent at a time, one series at a time....it's playoff time!
This is why we play the game!
