Major Atom Sting fall twice over weekend
The Lambton Sting Major Atoms had a rough weekend as they dropped a pair of games in league play.  On Saturday the Sting travelled to Zurich where they fell 8-5 to the Huron Perth Lakers while on Sunday they dropped a 6-4 decision at home to the Sun County Panthers.

The Sting started slowly on Saturday allowing the host Lakers to score a pair of powerplay goals and take a 3-0 lead before the period was half over.   The Sting would get a powerplay goal of their own late in the period to cut the deficeit to 2 goals but Huron Perth would score 3 more times early in the second period to take full control of the game.

Josh McLean and Dylan Riddell would each score twice for the Sting with Carson Perry getting the other goal.   Nolan DeGurse had 3 helpers with assists also going to Jaycob White and Hunter Monkhouse.

Sunday was a completely different story, at least to start the game, as the Sting came out flying and took the play to Sun County in the first period.   Spencer Vandenboom and Ryleigh Vanderwal each scored to give the Sting a 2-0 lead before the game was 10 minutes old but Sun County scored late in the first period to make it 2-1.   The game turned when Sun County struck for 3 goals in just over a minute midway thru the second period.  That took all momentum away from the home side and the team stopped skating.   The final score was 6-4 with Cameron Ware getting the other 2 Lambton goals.  Brock Barber had 2 assists with Ryan Barwitzki, Vandenboom, DeGurse and Perry earning 1 each.

Next weekend the Sting will try and get back on track with a strong showing in the London Earlybird Tournament
