MAJOR ATOM STING SPLIT A PAIR OF GAMES OVER THE WEEKEND
The Lambton Sting went 1-1 over the weekend losing to Huron Perth 4-3 Saturday before rebounding with a convincing 4-0 win over the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday.

On Saturday at the RBC Centre the Sting came out flat against the Lakers falling behind 2-0 before Cameron Ware would get Lambton on the scoreboard by converting a nice pass from Spencer Vandenboom. The Lakers would go up 3-1 but Lambton rallied to tie the contest midway through the third period. Hunter Monkhouse scored a shorthanded marker with help from Nolan DeGurse and then Ware would get the equalizer from Monkhouse and Carson Perry. The rally would be for naught as a defensive breakdown with 3 minutes remaining allowed Huron Perth to score the game winning goal.

There were no such lapses on Sunday against Kitchener as the team came out fired up following a strong pep talk from assistant coach Bob Neelin. Lambton would take the lead just over a minute into the game on a goal from Carson Perry assisted by Hunter Monkhouse. Nolan DeGurse would make it 2-0 in the second period when he scored an unassisted powerplay goal on a wraparound.

The Sting increased their lead to 3-0 when Jaycob White made a terrific play to pinch-in at the blueline, and he would get the puck to Spencer Vandenboom who made no mistake in deking the Rangers goaltender. Dylan Riddell added an empty-netter with Ryan Barwitzki drawing the assist. Luc Thorne-Smith earned the shutout between the pipes with a 16 save effort for his first regular season AAA victory.
