RULE CHANGES
ALLIANCE Hockey has announced two changes for the upcoming 2011-2012 season regarding the colour of jerseys teams will wear when home/away and the return of the traditional pre-game handshake.
Home and Away Jersey Colours for the 2011-2012 Season
The ALLIANCE has decided that Home teams will now wear dark jerseys and Away teams will wear light jerseys for the upcoming season. The change will take place for the start of league play 2011-2012 for all AAA hockey.
Handshake Prior to Game
A decision was also made to return to the traditional handshake for all AAA hockey for the 2011-2012 Season. The handshake will take place prior to the game with both teams lining up at centre ice. Referees have been instructed to blow the whistle with 30 seconds remaining in the warm-up to clean up pucks and get the ice cleared prior to shaking hands.
The changes are for ALLIANCE league, play-down, and play-off games only. Coaching staff should check with the individual tournaments and exhibition games with non-ALLIANCE teams for their policy and standards.
