Team Lose Their 8th in a Row
The Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Atom AAA team continue to have trouble putting in a complete game effort and are still looking for their second win of the season.

This past weekend the Minor Atoms hosted the Cambridge Hawks and the Sun County Panthers. In their first game of the weekend, the Jr. Sting took on the Cambridge Hawks and found themselves down 1-0 just 19 seconds into the first frame. Esselment would tie the game up, on the powerplay, after some nice work down low by Nicholas Medeiros. The second period would see the Hawks go ahead on a shorthanded goal but Lambton would capitalize just 24 seconds later, on the powerplay. Scoring for Lambton was Mederios, on a nice “up ice” pass from Eric McDonald, playing just his second game on defence. Although the team played very well in front of their hometown crowd, went 2 for 5 on the PP, they just couldn’t get themselves back in the wins column, losing 4-2.

On Sunday, the team met the Sun County Panthers in the first of 4 meetings this season. The two teams battled hard in the first period of play and the Panthers found themselves up 1-0 with just 6 seconds remaining in the period. Lambton came out absolutely flat in the second period and did not register a shot on goal, being out shot 8-0 in the period. The Jr. Sting found themselves down 3-0 heading into the third period of play. The third period was a penalty filled affair that saw the referees call a total 8 penalties. The only bright spot in the game for Lambton came mid-way through the period, when Lemieux scored a power play maker on another nice wraparound. Unfortunately, the Jr. Sting lost their 8th in a row 5-1. The team hopes a change of scenery will be just what the doctor ordered when they travel to Ohio this coming weekend to take part in the Cleveland Jr. Barons 2003 Showcase.
