Major Atoms Strong Against Elgin in 5-2 Loss
In the last game of 2012, the Major Atom Sting hosted the Elgin- Middlesex Chiefs at the RBC. With several players away, the team welcomed first time AP’s Levi Plain, Blake Wallace and Ryan Jansenns from the AA Major Atom team.

The Jr. Sting came into the game with the goal of improving on their previous 13-1 loss to Elgin prior to the holidays.  Showing no ill effects of all those turkey dinners, the boys came out hard and Blake Butler scored the first goal of the game unassisted midway into the first period of play.  Less than a minute later, Jackson Cole added the second Sting goal, assisted by Tyler Steeves and Kaleb Edlington.

Elgin responded with their first goal of the game 30 seconds into the second period and tied the game 18 seconds later.  A power play goal midway in the second advanced The Chiefs to 3-2.  The Jr. Sting continued to battle hard but Elgin moved ahead 4-2 in the third period and notched an empty net goal to ensure the win.

The Major Atoms start the new year with 3 road games, including Chatham on Wednesday, January 2 for their first game of 2013,  Elgin Middlesex on January 5th and London on Sunday January 6th.
