The Minor Peewee face Chatham Cyclones
The Minor Peewee faced Chatham at Ridgetown Arena on Sunday.

The Sting came out strong and took control of the puck, lots of jostling around the Chatham net ending in a penalty for the Cyclones. Good try by Ryan Barwitzki and then the first goal of the game for Dylan Riddell assisted by Kyle Kachan. Play continues with a good try by Cory Smith but Lambton are given a penalty. Good defence moves by Matt McIntyre keep the power play away from the net briefly but the Cyclones find a gap and score the equalizer. The Lambton boys take the puck down for more trys but the Cyclones gain another power play opportunity. The score moves to 2-1 for Chatham. Good work by Smith and Carson Perry and the puck is shot out by Spencer Vandenboom. The first period ends with the Cyclones taking the lead 2-1.

Chatham come out on the attack but are stalled by strong checking from Hunter Monkhouse and Brandon Neelin. The puck is skated up to the Sting net and Cyclones score again 3-1. More good defensive play by McIntyre and Barwitzki, and great checking by Dylan Riddell. Another good try by Smith, and Perry skates the puck out of the Lambton end. More exchanges of the puck between the teams and Jaxon Shelton sends it back towards the Chatham net. Good team work from Vandenboom and Perry and a great try from Shelton. The Cyclones skate back up and score their 4th of the game. At the drop of the puck Josh McClean has a great try on net but with no luck. Monkhouse and Shelton take the puck out of the Sting zone and Nolan DeGurse pops one in on the Lambton power play moving the score to 4-2. Good try by Monkhouse and Ryleigh Vanderwall but no luck. Great defensive play by Shelton removes the puck again but the buzzer sounds taking us into the third 4-2 down.

The puck is taken to the Chatham net by Vandenboom and Perry and the pressure is put on the Cyclones.  Chatham regain control and skate up to be met once again by Shelton who shoots it out. Nice solid checking from Steel Harris and Perry shoots and scores taking the score to 4-3. Monkhouse takes the puck down to the Chatham zone once again and both teams take a penalty. The Sting take another penalty giving the Cyclones the advantage. Pressure around the Sting net but the puck is taken out by Vandenboom. A great try by the Lambton boys but with no luck. Chatham skate back up and score, 5-3. The Sting retaliate with a great goal by Perry bringing the score to 5-4. Despite pulling goal tender Liam McCarthy for a final attempt to tie up the game, Lambton take the loss 5-4.

Next weekend the Minor Peewee travel to Lansing to take part in the Nations Cup Tournament.
