MIDGET’S IN THREE CLOSE GAMES AT SHOW CASE
Fri Dec 22 – London - The midget’s faced off against first place Kitchener in their first game of the showcase.

The midget’s got off to a good start but it was Kitchener that scored first seven minutes in. Andrew Martin would then even it up on the power play when Colasimone and Desena got the D running around with some great movement before Martin found the bottom corner from the point.

The second was all Kitchener as they outshot Lambton 18 – 3 in the period. Some great goaltending by Kent Taylor kept the game tied until the last minute of the period when the Jr. Rangers found the open man on the back door during a power play to take the lead.

Lambton would tie it up in the third when Campbell slid the puck across to his D partner Arnold who saw Veluz open at the back door. In a play we have seen several times this year, Arnold faked the shot and fired a pass to Veluz who made no mistake. With the clock counting down and under intense pressure it looked like Jr. Sting would hold on when Kitchener scored a fluky goal on a shot that deflected off a stick and then off a players glove to give Kitchener the win.
Final: 3-2 KJR Saves:
Kent Taylor 38, KJR goalie 20 Penalties:
LJS 20 min, KJR 22 min

Sat Dec 23 – London - The Midget’s met Cambridge in their second game of the weekend and came out strong with the entire team playing well. The first period remained scoreless with some notable fore-checking and back checking by Hughson, DeRush, and Durco.

Cambridge took the lead when they pounced on a rebound early in the second. The midget’s were all over Cambridge but couldn’t finish. With the period running down the Jr. Sting tied it up on the Power Play when Arnold found Brooks in front of the net, rather than try and jam the puck in, Brooks sent a backhand pass to Colasimone at the other side of the net for the easy tap in.

Cambridge would score two early in the third to take a two-goal lead. The Jr. Sting would battle back to within one when Campbell was set up by Veluz and Arnold during a power play with 8 minutes left. The Sting continued to pressure and when DeSena broke though the defense in the final minute it looked like a fairy tale finish, but in this case the cross bar was the scrooge ending the Lambton come back attempt.
Final: 3-2 Cambridge
Saves: Steven Taylor 24, Cambridge goalie 30
Penalties: LJS 10 minutes, Cambridge 14 minutes

Sat Dec 23 – London - The Midget’s final game of the weekend saw them faceoff against the Brantford 99r’s. In a game that is best described as boring Lambton would have to hang on to keep the two points.

A great rush by Colasimone caused the 99r’s to take an early penalty. Campbell would score on the ensuing power play with assists going to Colasimone and DeSena. Brantford would tie it up with a power play goal of their own just minutes later. Dylan Brooks would restore the Lambton lead with a great backhand shot from a DeSena feed.

Brantford would tie it up early in the third and really started to pressure a tired looking Lambton team. Some great physical play by Vince had the 99r’s listening for footsteps and helped keep them away from the Lambton net. Fortunately Morrison would finish an Arnold and Williams set up to give the Jr. Sting their onlypoints of the weekend.
Final: 3-2 LJS
Saves: Kent Taylor 30, Brantford Goalie 30
Penalties: 10 min aside.
