Lambton Jr Sting Major Atom AAA - International Silver Stick Finalists!!!
Last weekend the Lambton Jr Sting Major Atom AAA team competed in the International Silver Stick Finals in Sarnia.
The boys started off the weekend against Detroit Victory Honda. It was a great game with lots of passing opportunities and team play. Lambton was victorious with a score of 4-2.
The next game was against Detroit Little Caesars. We knew going into this game that it was going to be a tough battle. The boys came out strong and finished strong with lots of scoring chances in the third period. At the end of the game the score remained tied at 2-2.
Bright and early Saturday morning (7 am), the boys faced off against Krivo School of Hockey from Denver, Colorado. The boys were able to move the puck around successfully and came out on top with a 12-0 win.
Saturday afternoon the boys were paired up against York Simcoe Express. We have had back and forth battles against this team in the past. This game was a must win game to advance or it would come down to a number’s decision. The boys didn’t disappoint, they were down 0-2, but didn’t give up and played hard at both ends of the ice and ended up on top with a score of 3-2, putting them in first place in their division with a 3-0-1 record after round robin play.
Semi-Finals on Sunday had Lambton facing off against the Sault Ste Marie Jr Greyhounds. The Clearwater Red Rink was full of supporting fans to cheer these boys on to victory. The boys played hard and gave the fans lots to cheer about as they managed a 3-1 win and a spot in the International Silver Stick Finals.
The finals had Lambton facing off against Chicago Mission. It was a fast paced and exciting game but the Jr Sting just couldn’t find the back of the net and lost 0-4. They held their heads high and accepted their Finalists’ medals and banner with pride.
Special congratulations to Dracen Campbell and Cole Pranger for being named to the Atom AAA All-Star Team.
The boys played hard all weekend and we are all very proud of them.
