I cannot express how proud I am of these young men. They
went above and beyond today with their outfits and their donations. These young
men are such a joy to coach and have a bright future in the game but seeing
them today really showed the characters that are on this team. I could not ask
for a better 17 young men to coach.
I would also like to send a thank you out to the Windsor Jr. Spitfires Major Atom team who also brought in donations to help out with today’s effort.
With the game of hockey being under the microscope the past few weeks for the wrong reasons, today showed that these young men know that giving back is important and will helping out a foundation who does such a great job finding homes for animals can bring a lot of joy to people and the animals.
Hockey is a game that can bring the best out in everyone. It can also teach important lessons such as teamwork, perseverance, work ethic, and how to be good young people. It also shows that whether rivals on the ice, anything is possible off the ice.
