Good Weekend for Minor Atoms
The Minor Atoms played 2 away games this past weekend and came away with a win against London Jr. Knights Green and a tie with Brantford 99er's.

On Saturday the Sting were in London in hopes of building on their win last Sunday.  Things did not look good early going as London popped one in, only 13 seconds into the game.  That was a bit of a wake up call for the boys, so they buckled down and started playing some better hockey.  For the rest of the period the Sting limited London to just 1 more shot on net.
In the 2nd period the Sting's offensive exploded as all 3 lines got into the scoring.  First, it was Theo Crombeen who sniped one from the slot, via a beautiful pass by Josh Vale, with the other assist going to Joe Correia.  Then it was Nolan Farr banging home another, assisted by Carson Payne and Curtis Marks.  T. Crombeen would get his 2nd of the game, assisted by linemates Cameron Rombouts and Josh Vale.  Finally, to finish things off in the period, Lucas Ross cashed in, with some hard work, assisted by Cameron Adam and Dante Fuoco.

Going into the 3rd period the Sting were up 4-2 and dominating play.  This continued for the remainder of the game as they added 2 more goals for good measure by Dante Fuoco and C. Rombouts, assists going to L. Ross and T. Crombeen.
Good victory boys!

On Sunday the team travelled to the Gretzky centre to take on the Brantford 99er's.  Riding high off their victory yesterday, the Sting came out strong again.  The boys were winning all the races to the puck in both ends of the ice.  This hardwork paid off as Dante Fuoco put the Sting up 1-0, assisted by Lucas Ross and Cameron Adam. Their aggressive play continued, which resulted in some questionable calls by the referees and left the team on a 5 on 3.   No harm done however, even with only 3 men the team still seemed to be controlling the play.
In the 2nd, their great play continued which was converted into 2 more goals.  First, was kind of a flukely one as Joe Correia made a nice pass to Curtis Marks who crossed the blue line and took a low shot that fooled the Brantford netminder.  Minutes later, the Sting still pressing, Brett Allardyce took a shot from the point, creating
a rebound for D. Fuoco which was saved but eventually batted out of air by C. Adam to make it 3-0.

It looked like the Sting were going to cruise through the 3rd period, but the hockey gods had other plans. Brantford got on the board early in the 3rd as there was a mad scramble in the crease which was eventually called a goal, however, from the refs vantage point not sure how he could have actually seen the puck cross the line, but "thems the breaks".  This goal seemed to give the 99er's some momentum and they were able to get 2 more to tie the game.

This game ended in a tie, and although it was not the result the team was looking for they did mange to get 3 out of a possible 4 points this weekend.
