Minor Bantams Win Monroe Classic Tournament!!!!
Submitted By dcraievich on Monday, November 30, 2009
The Coaching staff were very please with our teams commitment this weekend to defensive play. We had outstanding goaltending from Cornel Felder and Cole Lauzon this weekend combined with an Increased team passion to play the defensive side of the puck has finally paid off. We only allowed 6 goals against in five games which allowed us to go UNDEFEATED this weekend with 3 wins and two ties. On Sunday morning we met the Hamilton Reps and found a way to beat them in overtime by a score of 2-1, Cornel Felder held his team in when they needed him to with some amazing saves when we got into a little bit of penalty troubles. In the final game our team earned a 3-0 shutout against Cincinnati Jr. Cyclones in a game that our team played to near perfection, it was by far the best team game that we have played all year long. We received a very nice comment from the Tournament convenor in regards to our players and coaches respect towards the officials and other teams they said we were the most respectful team that he has seen in one of there tournaments in a long time. We also had a nice comment that came from the head coach on the Cincinnati team Shawn Williams a professional player that I myself played hockey with as a professional he said we were a very disciplined team that showed a great respect for the game and our positions. I want to say a special thanks to Cornel Felder,Cole Lauzon, Brad Campbell,Brett Storr,Connor Black,Adam Wammes,Adam Craievich,Dylan MacQueen,Matt Day,Ryan Lyle,Sean Kelly,Kraig Durco,Carter Allan, Hunter Bryce,Grant Duffield,Brandon Li and Matthew Doidge (who missed the tournament do to Injury but his family drove him up on Saturday to support his teammates) It was a fantastic effort from all of you this weekend and it was wonderful to win a tournament with everyone being a big part of our teams success. We are very proud of you.
