Great Weekend for the Minor Peewee
The Minor Peewee take a tie and a win at home this weekend.

On Saturday the Minor Peewee faced Elgin Middlesex Chiefs, the first of their 2 home games this weekend.

The first period was dominated by Elgin with several shots on the Sting net resulting in the first two goals for the Chiefs. Lambton go into the second running on all cylinders and out for equalizing.
The first goal comes from Dylan Riddell assisted by Nolan DeGurse bringing the game to 2-1 for Elgin. The game continues with great passing by the Sting and sharp defensive play from Kyle Kachan. Cory Smith takes the puck and steams towards the Elgin net and scores a great unassisted goal tying up the game 2-2. Play moves onto the Lambton net and the Sting take a penalty.  The Chiefs take advantage of the power play scoring their 3rd of the game. The Lambton boys play hard around the Middlesex net but just can't catch a break at the end of the second.
We go into the third 3-2 down. The Sting catch a power play and fire several shots at the Chiefs barely missing the net. Then Hunter Monkhouse shoots and scores assisted by Jaxon Shelton and Ryleigh Vanderwal, tying up the game once again to 3-3. Elgin fight for the win attacking the Lambton net, but goalie Luc Thorne-Smith keeps them out. Great defensive play by Ryan Barwitzki and Matt McIntyre take the puck back to the Chiefs net but to no avail and after a great come back by the Sting we take a 3-3 tie.

On Sunday the Peewees faced the Windsor Spitfires.

After a disappointing loss when we last met the Spitfires, the Peewees come to the game with a win sharply set in their eyes. Play begins in the sting end but the puck is re-directed by Matt McIntyre and together with Ryan Barwitzki and Nolan DeGurse they try a well coordinated play on the Windsor net. Another attack is set up by Hunter Monkhouse and Ryleigh Vanderwal takes a shot. The Spitfires go on the attack and take the first goal of the game. Good checking by Brandon Neelin keeps the puck in the Windsor end and after several attempts to remove it by the Spitfires, Hunter Monkhouse shoots one in the net. Windsor grab a power play and attack the Lambton net again but are turned away several times. Good teamwork by Kyle Kachan, Nolan DeGurse, Dylan Riddell and Jaxon Shelton keep the pressure on in the final seconds of the first period.
We go into the second tied 1-1 with the Spitfires still on their power play. They skate through and score their second. Steele Harris rocks the Windsor boys with some hard checking and Cory Smith along with Carson Perry make a good play on the Spitfire net but are unsuccessful. The Spitfires retaliate with shots on Thorne-Smith but with no luck. Despite great attempts to score by Lambton we go into the third period 2-1 down.
The Sting come out hungry for a win in the third. Dylan Riddell seizes a chance and skates the length of the rink straight through the Windsor boys and shoots a beautiful unassisted top shelf goal taking the game to 2-2. Lambton grab another power play and Kyle Kachan fires one into the net assisted by Hunter Monkhouse and Carson Perry taking the Sting into the lead for the first time in the game. The Spitfires seek the tie and attack the Lambton net again landing themselves another penalty. The Sting power play boys line-up a great play and Carson Perry assisted by Nolan DeGurse and Ryleigh Vanderwal score Lambtons' 4th of the game. More great checking by the Lambton team but Windsor make a break and get another goal. Kyle Kachan takes the puck to the Spitfire end in an attempt to secure the win but with just over a minute of play left Windsor pull their goalie to try and even the score. We take a penalty and give the Spitfires the advantage, they take a shot but Luc Thorne-Smith makes the save. We take another penalty in the final seconds so are facing 6 Windsor players to our 3, Windsor shoot but Thorne-Smith refuses to let the puck pass, the Sting boys take control and the final whistle blows giving a much deserved win to Lambton 4-3.

Next weekend we face Elgin Middlesex at Komoka
