Lambton PeeWee's Wrap up League Play with 2 Big Wins
Submitted By rdunn on Wednesday, January 12, 2011
The Jr Sting PeeWee's extended their league winning streak to 5 games with two victories to bring the regular season to an end and lock up second place in the Western Division. After just missing out on the top position by one point the team will nonetheless enjoy a first round bye when the playdowns begin next week.

In their first test on the past weekend the Lambton squad hosted the London Jr Knights at the RBC centre and managed to pull out a come-from-behind 5-4 victory. Goaltending duties were split between Anthony Hurtubise and Jake Wilkins with both players making some key saves to secure the win. Five different marksmen hit the scoresheet for the home team with single goals going to Alec Dekoning, Ryan Greenaway, Jarett Marks, Dawson Vautour and Franco Sproviero. Assisting on the goals were Marks with 3, Brett Barnes with 2 and a single to Patrick Wright.

In the final game of the season the Jr Sting travelled to the historic Galt Gardens arena in Cambridge to battle the Hawks. After a slow first period the Lambton players opened up and scored 3 goals in the second and 2 more in the third period on their way to a convincing 5-2 victory. Scoring were Ethan Dupont with 2 and singles to Barnes, Sproviero and Brock Perry. Helpers were earned by Marks and Sproviero with 2 each and singles to Colin Leyten, Vautour and Greenaway. Hurtubise was busy between pipes and put in an exceptional performance to help secure the win.
