Atoms “Hard Work” Beginning to pay Dividends
The Lambton Jr. Sting AAA Major Atom hockey team looks to be turning their season around.  Despite some tough luck that saw them winless during a 12 game stretch, the boys have continued to “Work Hard” at practice and games and are seeing the results.  The Sting has a record of 6 wins, 4 losses and a tie over their last 11 games.  Included in that span are 2 road victories against Hamilton and Cambridge and a well-deserved 4-4 tie against Windsor, despite trailing 4-1 entering the third period.

The boys have adopted “Hard Work” as their motto and everyone from the Goalies to the Defence to the Forwards have bought in.  The team has not stopped believing in themselves and have been working hard both on and off the ice.

This past weekend the Sting won 2 and lost 1.

Versus Chatham the Sting lost a tough 7-5 contest.  Despite two disallowed goals the Sting hung in versus a high octane Chatham team.  Scoring for the Sting were Evan Morningstar, Affiliated Player, Calder Winegard, Aaron Shanks, Jaxon Pridle and Garret Pearce.  Picking up assists were, Tanner Winegard, Affiliated Player Garret VanRooyan, Calder Winegard, Aaron Shanks and Evan Morningstar.  Hardest worker awards went to Aaron Shanks, Evan Morningstar and Ryan Pageau

Sunday the Atoms travelled to Hamilton and Cambridge on the Sting bus for a good old double header.  Game one saw the boys defeat Hamilton by a score of 3-1.  Caiden Smit was strong in net shutting Hamilton down in periods 2 and 3.  Scoring for the Sting was Landon Buckingham, Tanner Winegard and Aaron Shanks. Assists went to Buckingham, Pageau, Ryan Vidler and Osler.  Hardest worker awards went to Buckingham, Osler and Smit.

Despite being a bit road weary in their afternoon matchup versus Cambridge, the boys took a solid 2-0 victory over Cambridge.  Carter La Rocque earned the win and shutout for the Sting, which included a penalty shot with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game.  Scoring for Lambton were Garrett Pearce and Aaron Shanks.  Jace Mc Grail and Buckingham picked up assists.  Hardest worker awards went La Rocque, Ryan Vidler and Isaac Oliphant.

The Sting are back at it with a home game versus London on Friday night at the SSEC.
