Welcome Players and Parents
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Peewee Head Coach.

I am entering my 2nd year as the coach of the Lambton Jr. Sting 2004 age group.  I have coached hockey in one capacity or another since finishing my playing career almost 20 years ago.  I enjoyed growing in the sport of hockey starting in the Point Edward Minor Hockey Association, through years playing with the Petrolia Jets, Sarnia Ranson Bee’s and Peterborough Pete’s.  I currently play men’s recreational hockey and support Hockey Canada’s ideals that youth hockey is about ensuring today’s youth hockey players enjoy the game through adulthood.

My coaching philosophy revolves around making the game fun and enjoyable for all my hockey players. I believe players need a safe and structured learning environment where they can grow and improve as hockey players and young athletes.  I believe that teams win and individuals lose when p laying organized team sports and the clear message to my players will be “Team First”.  Young players that learn commitment, dedication and discipline will make up the leaders of the next generation.

Players will be coached to put the team first and give 100% effort at all times including practices, games and office training.  I expect players to be respectful of all coaches, referees, players and parents and above all else have fun playing hockey.   All these ideals will be supported and enforced throughout the hockey season.

At this age group while “team play” and a “team first” mentality is the focus of the group, individual skills will be the focus at practice.  50% of all practice time will be spent developing individual skills that will transfer to player improvement and team success.  Lambton AAA’s direction is clear at this age group and my focus is in line with theirs… player skill development is more important than a win at all costs focus.

Tryouts can be an extremely stressful time of year.  Remember hockey is supposed to be fun!  I expect all players to show up ready to compete.  My evaluation team will be evaluating core player skills including skating, passing, puck handling, shooting, compete level, listening ability and hockey IQ.

I look forward to seeing everyone at Tryouts and am excited about the upcoming hockey season!  Please feel free to call or message me if you have any questions about the tryout process .
