Continuing to Give the Opposition a Run for their Money
The Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Atom team dropped their second game in a row to the Brantford 99ers in the Alliance “Pavillion” Consolation playoffs Thursday night.

This group of youngsters are currently playing some of their best hockey of the year but are still struggling with getting the puck past their opposition’s goaltenders.

The team came out strong on Thursday night, pinning the 99ers in their own end for minutes at a time but unfortunately could not bury some of their chances and would spot their opposition a 3 goal lead before Andrew Lemieux dug the free and scored at the 1:49 mark of the second period. Centre Austin Harper was awarded an assist on the play.
Lambton went into the third period down 3 – 1 but Lemieux would put home his second of the game on a rebound from line mate Owen Peters at the 12:27 mark to cut the deficit to 3 – 2. Unfortunately, that would be as close at the Jr. Sting would come as Brantford would score 2 more goals, including an empty netter, and take the game 5 – 2. Goaltender Blake Foster was stellar between the pipers, turning aside 28 of the 32 shots he faced.
The team now finds themselves down 4 points to 2 but have the weekend off before they face an all important game, on the road, on Monday night in Brantford.
